Sacramento Fire Protection Inspection

Fire Protection Inspections are done in Sacramento primarily to ensure the fire protection system is functioning properly (such as smoke alarms tests). There are many components that create a fire protection system, fire control valves, fire sprinklers, sprinkler heads, etc… some of these systems can be inspected by you regularly and some will require an inspection to be completed by a Fire Safety Engineer and/or a Fire Protection Contractor.

Who Inspects the Fire Protection System

The fire protection system should be periodically tested, inspected, and repaired when needed to ensure that the fire protection system is functioning properly. Generally fire protection inspections will conform to the NFPA 25 Standard for fire protection inspections, testing and maintenance.

What is a Fire Protection Inspection

An inspection of your fire protection system is a series of checks, tests, and visual inspections to make sure all components of the fire sprinkler system work properly. Such as inspecting a fire protection smoke alarm to ensure it works when smoke is present.

Inspecting your fire protection system should be regularly completed and a schedule established for weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual and 5 year inspections to your fire protection system. These inspections only ensure that your fire protection, fire sprinklers, sprinkler heads, fire alarms, heat detection alarms, control valves, and any other components are all operating and functioning properly.

Where Do Fire Protection Inspections Occur

An inspection of your fire protection system, will occur at your commercial building, home residence, office, structure or facility, that has an installed fire protection system. The fire safety engineer or fire protection contractor will run a series of checks, tests, inspections both visual and mechanical to ensure the fire protection system is operating and functioning.

When Fire Protection Inspections Take Place

The inspections of the fire protection system should take place in regular intervals, such as weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, yearly and every 5 years. Some of these routine checks can be completed by you, others will require the services of a fire safety engineer and/or fire protection contractor.

Why Inspect a Fire Protection System

You should routinely inspect, test, check and maintain your fire protection system to ensure all parts of the fire protection system operate and function properly. A poorly operating fire protection system may not operate correctly, meaning the fire could spread, the fire alarms could be broken, etc….you need to be alarmed of the fire, given time to evacuate, have the fire sprinklers extinguish and stop the fire from spreading, Therefore you will want a safe and working fire protection system, regularly tested, inspected, maintenance and ready to extinguish fires..

How Can I Inspect a Fire Protection System

Some of these visual and physical inspections to your fire protection system will be completed by you. However due to the complexity of the fire protection system we recommend that you contact a fire safety engineer and/or fire protection contractor to evaluate, test, inspect, maintain or repair your fire protection system.
